Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

At Modern Psychology, we work on a cash pay basis and do not bill insurance companies directly. We can provide you with a detailed invoice that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement, depending on your plan’s out-of-network benefits. We recommend reaching out to your insurance provider to check your coverage and understand the reimbursement options available to you.

How much does therapy cost?

At Modern Psychology, individual counseling sessions are $125, and couples counseling sessions are $200. Please feel free to contact us for more information or to schedule an appointment.

What are the pro-cons of using insurance vs. paying out of pocket?

At Modern Psychology, insurance can be a good option for clients with a mental health diagnosis. However, it often comes with limitations, such as limited sessions, the need to share personal records, and reduced privacy. Insurance may not fully address your unique needs, and some clients may find these restrictions frustrating.

Private pay, on the other hand, offers more flexibility and confidentiality. It allows us to focus on your specific needs without having to share your information with anyone. If privacy is important to you, or if you're seeking personal growth or more frequent sessions, private pay is the best choice. It also works well for those who don't meet the criteria for a mental health diagnosis but are focused on self-improvement. That said, if you have insurance and prefer to use it, we're happy to provide you with a detailed invoice to submit for reimbursement, depending on your plan’s coverage.

Is tele-health available?

Yes, at Modern Psychology, we offer virtual sessions to provide you with flexibility. While teletherapy is convenient, we recognize that some clients may find in-person sessions more beneficial for certain aspects of therapy. In-person sessions can offer a deeper connection and allow us to provide a more comprehensive experience. We recommend a balanced approach, combining both virtual and in-person sessions as needed to ensure the best possible care for you..
